At Acre Wood Day Nursery we pride ourselves on having welcoming home- from-home rooms, which ensure your child’s individual needs are met and their interests nurtured. All our rooms follow the EYFS (2012).
The early years foundation stage is the legal framework covering the first five years of children’s childcare and education.
All ages are approximate and depend on the individual child when considering moving to the next room.

6 weeks – 12 months
Our baby room is a cosy room with its own designated outside play area. We provide care from birth to 1 years old, with a home from home feel offering a safe and nurturing environment. It offers a range of natural resources at child level which allow babies to interact and experience tactile and sensory activities.
12 months to 24 months
Willow is a spacious space where children can explore and investigate in their own way, whether they are crawling or taking those first steps. Our Willow room allows children free choice to be curious and investigate natural resources.
24 months to 36 months
Maple is a large airy room providing children with a range of open-ended materials and resources, loose parts and elements of nature and the natural world. Messy play, painting and creative resources are always available, this allows opportunities for development and learning through hands on experiences developing their own interests.
36 months to 42 months
When children are turning three years old they begin the transition to entering the pre-school room. Pine is a large light area with access to the garden. Children have access to varied resources giving opportunity to extend their learning and encourages independence. Resources are freely accessible to enable children to choose and use their imaginations.
42 months to 60 months
Oak is our pre school, it is a large room with access to the outside area providing free flow throughout the day. Our garden has a fabulous new shepherd’s hut which the children enjoy exploring and using their imaginations. We have area’s in our garden where we grow plants and vegetables from seed. The mud kitchen is a popular area for children to explore and by creative. We encourage the use of natural, authentic resources to build and construct.
Throughout the Oak room there are spaces for invitations to learning which inspire children to explore be curious and inquisitive. This allows the child to be able to play and extend their learning while developing new skills.
We have created a cosy relaxing homely area for children to explore and share books.
